I love the admonition of Victor Hugo:
“Have courage for the great sorrows of life, and patience for the small ones; and when you have laboriously accomplished your daily task, go to sleep in peace. God is awake.”
What if, just for today, you put all your trust in the God who holds your life in His perfectly capable hands?
What if you hushed your fears, and halted your worries with the phrase, “I’m not going to dwell on this fear (or worry). I’m going to give it to God.”
What could change for you today if you simply performed your day’s labor and left the rest to the Lord?
He is the Creator of worlds without end–does He not have the power to create of your life to a beautiful masterpiece? Can we not trust Him enough to turn the dark colors and messy parts into the necessary shadows that give our life’s painting such splendid definition and contrast?
And while there is opposition in all things, there is also purpose in all things as well. No brush stroke is lost on Him who orchestrates every detail for our good.
So trust Him when you rise.
And trust Him when you sleep.
For at all times, God is awake.
