We all have days when life doesn’t feel so wondrous. But what if on those days, you had something special to soothe your soul, bring a little more happiness to your heart, and remind you how much you are loved?
This special little thing is called a “Comfort Collection,” and today is the day you could start curating your very own if you’d like.
How to Create a Comfort Collection in 2 Easy Steps:
1- Start curating your collection by gathering little bits of things that can bring you peace when you are discouraged or downtrodden. I like to collect quotes, scripture verses, book chapters, and music that I know will be a tremendous help on the hard days. These words are hopeful, comforting, and full of God’s truth. You could also include family photos, pretty pictures, special letters or cards, tasty treats, lotions, bath products, or a movie. There is no wrong way to do this. Simply follow your heart and begin to gather the things that will cheer you up when the going gets rough.
2- Create a container for your collection. This could actually be a physical container like a book with pasted quotes, a box or basket to hold your collection, or it could be a digital folder saved on your phone or computer. Or you might opt for a digital spot as well as a drawer to hold your comfort collection. Just be sure that the container you choose feels comforting.
The prophet Jacob says, “it must needs be, that there is an opposition in all things.” So don’t despair when gray days come knocking. Just pull out your comfort collection and rest in the knowledge that “all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good.“
